Canal Zone Specimens

 

Catalogue numbers used below are from the Canal Zone Study Group Checklist in the Canal Zone Philatelist, 1995 Issue #4 (Whole #117), p. 37-40, available here:

Many thanks to David Leeds, Jim Crumpaker, Gary Weiss and Irwin Gibbs, who did the research to compile the checklist from the ABN Archive auctions at Christies in 1990. Note on quantities: as described in the checklist, issue quantities may be somewhat understated by sheet fragments and damaged stamps not offered in 1990, although some damaged may have been destroyed. EACH IS NH, HAS A SMALL PUNCHED HOLE, AND ITS PLATE # & POSITION WRITTEN ON BACK IN PENCIL!! These are extremely uncommon and seldom seen – even the MOST common have 300 issued.
